Ryan Cooley portrayed class clown James Tiberius “J.T.” Yorke, with Jake Goldsbie cast as J.T.’s best friend, Toby Isaacs, a computer geek. Drake portrayed basketball star Jimmy Brooks, who came from a wealthy family. Shane Kippel played school bully Gavin “Spinner” Mason.
It turns out, Dickens wasn’t actually much kinder or gentler in real life than he had been on Degrassi. In fact, his crimes in real life, child exploitation charges that won’t be discussed in detail, are arguably much worse than the one he committed on the show. On a cast as sprawling as Degrassi’s there were bound to be a few who had problems in their lives after the show. There were very few characters as important to Degrassi as Adam.

Of course, it didn’t hurt that allowing these actors to do their own makeup was also a big cost-saver that made the responsibilities of the hair and makeup department much smaller. It was a great way to kill two birds with one stone, adding to the show’s authenticity while saving a few bucks at the same time. Kim apologized for all of this, and the video caught the attention of one of Degrassi’s executive producers, who said that the language was unacceptable in any and all contexts. Steps were taken to discipline Kim, with the hopes that this kind of incident would never be repeated by any other cast members. The show has aired numerous storylines about terminated pregnancies throughout its history, and those storylines have typically held a sympathetic eye toward the issue.

Coming to terms with the notion that your future may look different than what you’d always imagined for yourself is no simple thing. Paige thought she knew who she was, which was straight. Her reaction was sad yet realistic, which I know because Paige’s experience was so similar to mine. She graduated in 2005 from the all-girls private school Branksome Hall. She completed her first year of university at York University in Toronto in 2007, then transferred to The New School’s Eugene Lang College in New York City, graduating in 2009.
